Old world charm meets modern day safari sanctuary at Old Drift Lodge - fourteen elegant tents adorn the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, just 7 km from Victoria Falls. An idyllic bush paradise awaits at Old Drift Lodge. An 1898 settlement, “Old Drift” was the platform for the building of this luxury lodge offering a tranquil space and safari experiences away from the hustle and bustle of Vic Falls town. The best of both worlds.

Consisting of 10 double suites and four family suites, Old Drift Lodge offers stylish air-conditioned accommodation with luxury amenities in an elegant setting against a backdrop of pristine wilderness. Complete with low wooden decks, the rooms boast indoor and outdoor showers and private plunge pools. Free-standing ball-and-claw bath on the deck, with canvas curtains (for privacy if required) and overlooking the scenic Zambezi river demand an air of relaxation and tranquillity.

The outlay of Old Drift Lodge facilitates easy viewing of wildlife such as elephant, zebra and buffalo, herds of sable, eland, zebra, giraffe, kudu, waterbuck and impala. meandering past the lodge. The tents connect to the main area by wood- effect walkways

Linking the chalets to the expansive tented main area are wood-effect walkways, with regular breaks allowing river access along the natural migration routes of elephant, and sometimes buffalo. Large wooden doors form the entrance to the main area itself, whitewashed wood floors, wrought iron lighting fixtures, luxurious soft furnishings and folding glass doors opening the full length of one side of the main area add to the elegant interior design. The focal point of this area is a central fireplace –sitting in front of the bar. Exceptional, mouth – watering meals can be enjoyed inside or outside on the deck as you view the river activity down below. Nearby, outdoor lounge areas invite one to spend some time here birdwatching, enjoying sundowners around the firepit.

A visit to the recently upgraded 120-meter-high Lookout Café located above the Batoka Gorge and the tumultuous rapids is an experience to be relished.

Fascinating morning and afternoon game drives into Zambezi National Park and river safaris are on offer as well as opportunities to visit local villages, fly by helicopter over the magnificent falls and raft the racing rapids below – an item on every adrenalin junkie’s bucket list. Fishing, canoeing, guided walking safaris and a host of other activities in Victoria Falls can be pre-arranged with the lodge itself.
