Overlooking a beautiful stretch of river on the private Selinda Reserve, the Selinda Suite offers one of the most exclusive safaris in Africa. This luxurious 2 bedroom suite operates as your own private safari camp – complete with your own private guide, chef and host offering the ultimate exclusivity and flexibility. A superb safari experience is matched by fantastic food and service, as you would expect of a Relais and Chateaux property.
The Selinda Suite accommodates 4 adults or a family of 2 adults and 3 children in two bedrooms. The Suite is next to, but separate from, Selinda Camp and operates independently. With a separate entrance and its own dedicated team, guests at the Selinda Suite enjoy complete independence and exclusivity during their stay. Safari activities include game drives, walking and boating (water levels permitting).
The Selinda Reserve is named after the spillway which connect the Okavango and Linyanti Rivers. It is a game rich and beautiful reserve, famously captured in the National Geographic film “Birth of a Pride” by the filmmakers and camp founders, Dereck and Beverly Joubert.
The Selinda Suite is an elegant two-bedroom villa housed under a thatched roof with décor combining European, Mokololo and Bayei cultures.
Each of the Selinda Suite’s two bedrooms are extremely spacious, with a king size beds, a writing desk and en-suite bathrooms with a bathtub as well as indoor and outdoor showers. In the centre of the villa is a vast lounge and dining area with a private verandah with stunning views of the surrounding flood plains.
The Selinda Suite also features a swimming pool from which one can soak up the views of across the Selinda waterways between safari activities.
The Selinda Reserve is a rich and varied ecosystem and a sanctuary for a wonderful variety of animals. The landscapes are very similar to those in the Okavango Delta. Open grasslands dotted with palm trees attract an array of plains game from zebra to wildebeest and giraffe, while the shady riverine forests are popular with browsers like kudu, roan and sable and leopard too. Elephants and buffalo are found in good numbers, especially in the dry season. Predators include lion, wild dog, leopard, hyena and cheetah.
A network of channels and lagoons map spread across the reserve, rising and falling with the local rains and the flood waters from Angola. The Selinda spillway is a life line for animals living between the Okavango and Linyanti river systems – and home to a rich birdlife too.
A stay at the Selinda Suite combines very well with its smart sister camp, Duba Plains Suite.
At Okavango Delta Explorations we specialise in crafting safaris to this unique ecosystem.
