The Duba Plains Suite is an stunning two-bedroom luxury villa located on a beautiful and game-rich private concession in the northern Okavango, an area featured in many Nat Geo documentaries. Surrounded by pristine Okavango wilderness this luxurious two bedroom suite offers one of the most exclusive safari experiences in Africa. This region is known for its remarkable wildlife and up-close encounters with predators such as lions, leopards and wild dog. Huge herds of buffalo favour this area to the delight of lions. Plains game are plentiful as well as the more unusual animals like aardvarks.  The abundance of wildlife in this region is impressive and guest have the ultimate luxury of explore this with the utmost exclusivity and flexibility.

The Duba Plains Suite evokes the sophisticated style of the original safari explores of the 1920’s – with an understated luxury. The villa has been designed to blend in harmoniously with its natural surroundings, without any compromise on comfort or service – the suites delivers a remarkable hospitality experience.

Built on a platform made of recycled railway-sleepers, the villa offers guests panoramic views of the surrounding wildlife and iconic Okavango flood plains.  The indoor lounge and dining room are comfortable and spacious and are designed to maximise the views.  The two bedrooms of the villa each feature private verandahs fitted with plunge pools and an outdoor shaded sala – complete with a spinning bike for working up an appetite between meals.  The bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor showers as well as an extravagant bath. Each room also comes with a pair of Swarovski binoculars – perfect for a sofa safari from your deck.

Guests at Duba Plains Suite will have a private host and chef – the food and wine is very good here. There is an extensive wine list from the wine cellar of the main camp, guests can even have wine shipped back to their homes should they fall in love with something particular in this special collection.

The Duba concession is one of the most scenic and wildlife rich areas of the Okavango – an area made famous by the award-winning Nat Geo filmmakers and conservationists Beverly and Derek Joubert who later founded the camps here. Game viewing here has traditionally been dominated by explosive lion and buffalo interactions – as the lion prides split and less dominant this has allowed other predators to move in such as leopard, wild dog and hyena. The area is now wonderfully diverse offering a superb safari experience.

It perhaps is not surprising that a luxury camp built by professional photographers even offers a complimentary use of top photographic gear. The Duba Plains Suite has a professional Canon camera set available for guest use, including two Canon 5D camera bodies with two Canon 100-400mm lenses and one Canon wide angle lens. Photos will be downloaded to a storage device on guest’s.

Guests explore the Duba area at their own pace with complete flexibility thanks to their private guide and vehicle. Guests are encouraged to follow their interests and enjoy their safari at their own pace. Drives are usually in the early morning and late afternoon for the best chances of great sightings but full day drives with a picnic lunch are often arranged on request. Boating is available when water levels permit (usually May-September) and walking is available when conditions allow.
