Palm Afrique Lodge

Palm Afrique Lodge is a simple, comfortable and good-value lodge just outside Ghanzi, ideal for breaking the journey between Windhoek, Maun and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, or the long drive between Gaborone and Maun. Set on a private reserve, it offers comfortable accommodation, a swimming pool and restaurant, while also providing easy access to the Kuru Art Project and D'Kar Museum.

Location

Palm Afrique Lodge is located on a private reserve just outside Ghanzi in western Botswana. Positioned on the Trans-Kalahari Highway, it is a convenient overnight stop between Windhoek and Maun, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, or for breaking the long drive between Gaborone and Maun. Ghanzi is often considered the gateway to Botswana’s Kalahari and is home to one of the country’s largest San communities. Guests with time to explore can visit the nearby Kuru Art Project and D’Kar Museum, both offering fascinating insights into San culture, history and contemporary art.

Accommodation

The lodge offers a range of simple, comfortable en-suite rooms designed for a restful overnight stay. Rooms are equipped with tea and coffee-making facilities, Wi-Fi and a television, while two suites also feature air conditioning. Private verandas overlook the surrounding grounds and bush.

Facilities & Dining

The central lodge includes a restaurant serving hearty home-style meals, a licensed bar and a swimming pool, providing a comfortable place to relax after a day’s drive. The surrounding reserve is home to a variety of plains game, including zebra, springbok, kudu, eland, sable and oryx, as well as good birdlife.

Our View

Palm Afrique is not a destination lodge, nor does it pretend to be. It is a comfortable, good-value overnight stop that works particularly well for journeys across Botswana or into Namibia. We also like its proximity to the Kuru Art Project and D’Kar Museum, giving guests the opportunity to experience an important part of Botswana’s San heritage before continuing their journey.
