Singita Elela - Full Report

Singita Elela means “to flow” in Setswana, a fitting name for a camp inspired by the seasonality of the Okavango Delta. Designed in harmony with its environment, each of Elela’s eight circular, stilted camps offers panoramic views of shifting floodplains, roaming wildlife, and the ever-changing skies. Wherever you are—in your suite, on the deck, or by the fire—the landscape feels alive and constantly in motion.

Located on NG26, the former Abu Concession, Singita Elela sits within approximately 170,000 hectares (420,000 acres) of private Okavango wilderness. This is a particularly beautiful part of the Delta, characterised by winding channels, palm-fringed islands, seasonal floodplains and the expansive palm-dotted horizons for which the Okavango is renowned. The concession offers year-round game drives, while seasonal water levels often support boating and mokoro excursions, allowing guests to explore this remarkable landscape from both land and water.

Singita Elela is one of the most exclusive safari properties in Botswana. The lodge comprises eight individual camps, ranging from intimate one-bedroom retreats to spacious two-bedroom camps and an exclusive four-bedroom camp designed for families and groups travelling together.

The four-bedroom camp offers the pinnacle of private safari living, with two vehicles, private guides, a dedicated Camp Manager, private chef, wine cellar and its own fitness and wellness spaces—ideal for families or groups travelling together.

Children of all ages are welcome at Singita Elela.

Each camp at Singita Elela is designed as a self-contained sanctuary, with a lounge, dining area, and kitchenette—spacious enough to host private wellness treatments or workouts. Outdoors, a private pool invites you to cool off, firepits and decks provide space for gathering or reflection. Rvery retreat comes with a private vehicle, guide, tracker and dedicated Camp Manager to shape your safari.

While each of Elela’s eight camps is entirely self-contained, the lodge also features a central hub where guests can choose to gather for meals, drinks or conversation. Here, indoor and outdoor dining spaces are complemented by a fitness centre, conservation lounge and the regional campus of the Singita Community Culinary School. Guests are free to spend as much or as little time here as they wish, combining the privacy of their own camp with the option of a more sociable safari experience.

Days at Elela can be as active or as restful as you wish. Activities include game drives, bush walks, seasonal mokoro excursions, boating, fishing, wine tastings, stargazing, yoga, and wellness treatments. Helicopter flights are also available for an unforgettable bird’s-eye perspective of the Delta.

The rhythm of an Elela stay is guided by the flow of the Delta itself—seasonal waters, shifting light, and the movements of wildlife—inviting a sense of freedom, possibility, and deep connection to one of Africa’s most remarkable wildernesses.

This area of the Okavango, the Abu concession, has traditionally been able to support seasonal water activities such as motor boating and mokoro (traditional dug out canoes) during the flood season (usually from May/June to September/October).

Daily scheduled Mack Air flights operate from both Maun and Kasane to Singita Airstrip, followed by a short game drive transfer of approximately 15 minutes to camp. Private helicopter transfers can also be arranged, offering a spectacular aerial perspective of the Delta.

Singita Elela is one of the most anticipated lodges to open in Botswana.
