Situated on the beautiful Abu Concession, overlooking a perennial lagoon, Seba Camp is one of the few specialist family camps in the Okavango Delta. Surrounded by riverine vegetation, Seba enjoys good game viewing and prolific birdlife and a variety of land and seasonal water activities for a classic Okavango safari experience. Two specially designed family tents make this friendly little camp a great choice for family safaris and those looking for a more relaxed safari.
Seba Camp has a pretty location, set on the edge of small perennial lagoon which is usually home to a pod of honking hippos whose heading pop above the lilies throughout the day. The camp comprises eight elevated, inter-connected en-suite tents with wonderful views over the floodplains and is a fantastic camp for children keen to learn about wildlife. Two family suites in two distinct configurations, one with an open lounge; the other with a loft room make this option ideal for older children. Each tent is individually and beautifully furnished. Communal areas are accessed via well – lit paths and include a bar, lounge and swimming pool – all providing ample space to relax.
Seba Camp offers guests both day and night game drives in 4 x 4 Land Rovers, accommodating up to seven people and ensuring uninterrupted views for all. The concession is home to good numbers of plains game and accompanying predators, largely due to the wide variety of habitats in the area– open grassland, specialised water eco- systems in the channels as well as separate small islands .One can expect to see species such as Cape buffalo, African elephant ,giraffe, various antelope and red lechwe. Zebra, hippo and warthog are also often sighted. Lions are the dominant carnivores to be found here, followed closely by spotted hyaena and sightings of the normally elusive leopard. Packs of endangered Wild Dog are welcome visitors to this area. Night drives allow for fascinating sightings of nocturnal animals, including hyena.
Mokoro (canoe) excursions, especially during winter months (approximately May to September), offer guests a unique perspective of the diversity of life in this remarkable semi-aquatic ecosystem.
Three hundred and eighty different species of birds have been recorded including “Okavango specials” such as the tiny, jewel-like malachite kingfisher, white-browed coucal, Luapula cisticola, pied kingfisher, rufous-bellied heron and great white egret. Boat trips are offered dependant on water levels, and seasonal fishing is possible on a catch and release basis.
Dependant on the availability of a walking guide and on request, nature walks with armed guides are allow guests to get close to nature and observing the many smaller plants and creatures missed when travelling by vehicle.
Seba Camp’s children’s programme invites young safari-goers to engage with wildlife in an entertaining way and includes basic photography, scrapbooking and painting with natural bush powder paints as well as guided nature walks within the security of the camp. Note: Camp is unfenced, and adult supervision is required.
Solar panels provide electricity and water thus ensuring that impact on the environment is kept to a minimum.
