The Sedia Hotel - Overview

The Sedia Hotel is one of Maun’s nicest places to stay, set within extensive, mature gardens along the Thamalakane River, around 20 minutes from the airport. Popular with both travellers and locals, it has a genuinely friendly, laid-back atmosphere, and with a number of thoughtful refurbishments over the years, it has steadily gone from strength to strength.

The Sedia Hotel - Full Report

Most recently, in April 2026, the main guest areas were refreshed, bringing a lighter and more cohesive feel to the reception, lounge and restaurant. Soft neutral tones, natural materials and woven lighting have been introduced, alongside subtle botanical detailing that reflects the surrounding landscape. The result is a more polished but still relaxed environment, with improved seating areas and a better connection between indoor spaces and the gardens beyond.

Accommodation is varied and practical, with 24 standard rooms as well as a number of larger garden cottages suited to families and small groups. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, overhead fans, a safe and Wi-Fi throughout, ensuring a comfortable stay in Maun’s warmer climate. A back-up generator is also in place to manage any power interruptions.

Two two-bedroom cottages can accommodate up to four guests and offer generous space, with a lounge area centred around a flat-screen television, as well as a small kitchen with fridge, sink and tea and coffee facilities. There is also a desk, making these a convenient option for longer stays or families wanting a little more independence.

For larger groups, four three-bedroom cottages are set within the gardens and can comfortably sleep up to six guests. These are similarly well-equipped, with multiple bedrooms, each with a television and satellite channels, along with a small kitchen area and comfortable shared living space.

The restaurant and bar open onto a shaded terrace, overlooking the gardens and pool — one of the hotel’s most appealing features, particularly in the evenings. An activity desk is available to help arrange local experiences, including scenic helicopter flights over the Delta, cultural village visits and trips to nearby Elephant Havens.

There is also a campsite located at the far end of the large grounds. However, thanks to the scale of the property and the dense, established gardens, this area feels entirely separate and does not impact the main hotel experience. It has its own ablution facilities, restaurant and swimming pool.

While The Sedia Hotel remains firmly positioned as a good-value option rather than a safari camp, the combination of generous grounds, improved shared spaces and easy location makes it a comfortable and reliable choice for a night in Maun.
