Tuli Safari Lodge Mashatu is a tented safari camp set beneath beautiful trees on the banks of the Limpopo River in Botswana’s Mashatu Game Reserve, in the Northern Tuli Block. With only eight decked luxury spacious tented suites of canvas walls and timber frames it has a classic safari feel, with modern comforts including a freestanding bath with views on to the surroundings.
Tuli Safari Lodge Mashatu is one of two 4-star lodges in the Mashatu Game Reserve found in Botswana´s Tuli enclave of Eastern Botswana. The lodge is a cooling oasis set amongst a forest of indigenous trees; nyala berries, rock figs, giant fever berries, apple leaf and even baobabs, made even more inviting with a large swimming pool. With the boundaries of the lodge you have the freedom to wander a walking trail visit the waterhole, hide and star gazing deck.
Just eight tented suites ensures an exclusive safari experience. With a modern interpretation of the classic ‘out of Africa’ style, and a spacious open plan design, each room has a lounge around and can be configured to accommodate two adults and two children if you are travelling as a family. Note there is not dedicated family tent here. The ensuite bathroom has ample space with double basin vanity area and freestanding bath with a view, in a separate space you´ll find the toilet and large shower.
Mashatu has excellent wildlife. Predator sightings are plentiful ranging from lion to leopard, cheetah as well as hyenas. Birding lovers will enjoy the large variety and numbers of different species – particularly between November-April as these are migratory months – with over 350 species in residence. However, Mashatu delights all year round, every season enjoying distinct differences and specialities.
This 42,000-hectare private reserve boast fantastic year round safaris and a diverse variety of landscapes. Particularly striking is Solomon’s Wall, a 30-meter-high basalt dike that was once a natural dam wall, which created a massive lake. Now the riverbed is decorated with semi-precious stones and offers the perfect picnic spot under the shade of fever trees. Other elevated rocky outcrops (kopjes) boast beautiful views across the horizon, as well as ancient San rock paints.
Access to Tuli Safari Lodge Mashatu has never been easier, direct flights between Mashatu and Johannesburg as hassle free, as the Reserve has an international airport complete with immigration and customs facilities. Charter flights can also be arranged to connect with other safari destinations such as the Okavango Delta as well as other locations in South Africa, such as Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. By road, most visitors come in via South Africa’s Pont Drift border, once in Botswana you´ll be met by your guide and transferred on a short game drive to the lodge.

Splash camp is a smart tented camp on the prime private concession of Kwara, in the eastern Okavango Delta, a pretty and game lively concession. Shinde Camp, with a tree-house style is nestled on a lush palm island on a private concession in the north eastern Okavango Delta. Overlooking the shimmering Shinde Lagoon, this is an area which teems with animals and birds attracted to the permanent waters.
