The Okavango and Beyond

A leisurely and luxurious safari through some of the most picturesque areas of the Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls, this journey offers a perfect blend of beautiful camps and gradual exploration of remote landscapes. In the Okavango Delta, you will divide your time between Tuludi and North Island, two distinct and captivating ecosystems that allow you to enjoy both land and water activities. Your holiday culminates at the stunning Victoria Falls River Lodge along the Zambezi River, close to the magical Victoria Falls. This safari is all about wildlife, luxury, privacy, and breathtaking scenery.

Tuludi stands out as one of the latest additions to luxury camps in the Okavango. Its tree-house style rooms are nestled under the shade of magnificent leadwood trees, each boasting its own private plunge pool. Adding to its charm, there’s even a treehouse library perched four meters up in the boughs. The location is nothing short of glorious: wildlife is drawn to a nearby waterhole right outside the camp, while the surroundings encompass seasonal floodplains, lily-covered lagoons, and the mighty Khwai River. This area is renowned for hosting large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as impressive concentrations of predators.

The idea behind the design of Tuludi was to mirror the spaciousness and freedom of its surroundings. With high, pitched canvas roofs in the bedrooms create light and airy retreats after a bustling day in Khwai. Wooden boardwalks meander through the leadwood trees, linking the seven ‘treehouse-style’ tents, while providing cool shade. Inside, a sophisticated earthy palette welcomes you, with separate dressing and sleeping areas, an ensuite bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, and lavish bathtubs. Additionally, there’s a sunken seating area and a private plunge pool on the outside veranda, all overlooking vast floodplains.

North Island Okavango is situated on a remote private island within a stunningly picturesque and wildlife-rich concession of the Okavango, this luxurious new safari camp offers an unparalleled base from which to embark on a wide range of safari experiences. This camp has only four tents, hence delivering a very intimate safari experience, serving as the ultimate wilderness retreat.

Each tent has been meticulously designed amidst a gathering of majestic trees, offering unparalleled views of the serene lagoon. Surrounded by a variety of ebony, mangosteen, rain trees, leadwood, and wild fig, the setting is truly enchanting. The adventure here unfolds in waves as you embark on safaris among the islands, teeming with wildlife and breathtaking beauty. Undoubtedly, this promises to be an unforgettable Okavango Delta safari experience.

Crafted for both comfort and luxury, you’ll find yourself quickly settling into the tranquility of this haven. Here, immersed in the serenity and splendor of your surroundings, you’ll be blissfully unaware of anything else. It’s also an opportunity to experience the wonders of the Okavango Delta in three unique ways: on land, on water, and in the air. Each new adventure is as extraordinary as the last. The wildlife encounters in and around the camp are exceptional, and exploring this idyllic island landscape will not only delight but also leave you brimming with adventurous tales to share.

Located along the banks of the majestic Zambezi River, within the Zambezi National Park, Victoria Falls River Lodge’s Luxury Tented Suites provide exceptional wildlife viewing, splendid accommodations, exquisite dining, and convenient access to the historic town of Victoria Falls, along with the chance to explore the renowned Falls themselves. These opulent thatched tents, spaciously arranged and equipped with air conditioning, are crafted from canvas, glass, and timber. Each tent opens onto a private deck featuring a plunge pool, offering uninterrupted vistas of the Zambezi River and the surrounding wilderness.

Immerse yourself in the beautiful natural surroundings with a range of game drives and walking safaris. Enjoy leisurely river cruises, guided tours of the falls, and various canoe safaris for a unique perspective on game viewing. Situated to provide stunning views of the river, the main lodge is truly remarkable. The Toa Spa (Africology) offers exquisite treatments for guests.

Day 1, 2 & 3 - Tuludi Camp

Upon your arrival in Maun, Botswana, a representative will greet you and assist with your connection to a shared charter flight to Tuludi Camp. This scenic flight takes about 30 minutes. Once you land, your guide will be waiting to transfer you to the camp, a journey of approximately 20 minutes, with potential wildlife sightings along the way.

After meeting the team and settling into your room, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some refreshments while your guide introduces you to the surrounding environment and the activities available at Tuludi Camp. Located on a wildlife-rich private concession, Tuludi offers a diverse array of safari activities, including morning, afternoon, and evening game drives, walking safaris, boating, and mokoro rides. Your guide will discuss your interests and preferences to tailor your itinerary, ensuring you make the most of your time here.

That afternoon, you will embark on your first activity, exploring the stunning Khwai Private Reserve. After toasting the setting sun in the bush, you'll return to camp for dinner and plan the next day's activities with your guide.

The following morning, you'll wake early to your choice of hot drink delivered to your room. After breakfast, you'll set off for a full day in the Khwai Private Concession. You might opt for a game drive to track the movements of big cats overnight or a bush walk to learn about the smaller species and flora in this unique ecosystem.

Upon returning for brunch, you'll have a few hours for a siesta—a perfect time to relax on your private deck, by the pool, in the lounge, or with a nap to recharge. Around 4 PM, you'll depart for your afternoon activity, once again toasting the sunset with drinks in the bush before returning to camp for dinner.

The next day follows the same routine, with an early morning and late afternoon activity, and a restful siesta in between. Enjoy your spacious room, the camp's amenities, and the refreshing swimming pool.

On your final evening, your guide will inform you of your departure time for your flight to North Island Okavango the following day, allowing you to plan your morning activity accordingly.

Day 4, 5 & 6 - North Island Okavango

This morning, you'll rise early again for your morning activity, perhaps revisiting previous sightings or tracking something new and exciting. It's your last chance to explore the Khwai Private area before returning for brunch. At a time advised the day before, your guide will transfer you to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to North Island Okavango, a journey of about 30 minutes.

After enjoying refreshments with your guide and settling into your room, take the opportunity to explore your new temporary home in the Okavango before setting off on your afternoon activity. North Island Okavango is a private concession offering a wide range of land and water activities, similar to Tuludi, giving you plenty of choices. Your guide will discuss the options with you and help select your preferences.

In the late afternoon, you'll embark on a game drive or boat ride excursion, stopping for refreshing sundowners as the sun sets and nocturnal animals begin to stir. Returning to camp with a spotlight, you'll search for big cats starting their hunting routines and seek out smaller nocturnal animals like genets, bush babies, and caracals.

The next day, your first full day at North Island, offers a chance to explore deeper into the concession on game drives or other exciting activities. The day begins with an early wake-up call and breakfast before setting off on your morning activity, whether it's driving further into the concession, enjoying a guided walk, or gliding through the waterways on a traditional mokoro.

You'll return to camp for brunch and a siesta during the heat of the day. In the late afternoon, you'll head out again for your chosen activity with your guide.

The following day follows the same routine, and you'll soon find yourself falling into the safari rhythm with early morning and late afternoon activities. By now, the early morning starts might catch up with you, making a siesta even more welcome. It's a great time to enjoy your room's deck, the camp lounge areas, and the swimming pool.

On your final evening, over a hearty dinner, your guide will inform you of your departure flight time to Kasane the next day, allowing you to plan your morning activity accordingly.

Day 7,8 & 9 - Victoria Falls River Lodge

This morning you will enjoy one final activity at North Island before setting off at agreed time for your 45 minutes flight to Kasane. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred across the Botswana Zimbabwe border and then on to Victoria Falls River Lodge - a journey of about 2.5 hours.

Victoria Falls River Lodge is your final destination. From here you can explore the beautiful natural setting on a selection of game drives, and walking safari options. Leisurely river cruises, guided tours of the falls and various canoe safari opportunities offer game viewing from a different perspective and much fun for the love birds.

Sit on your private deck (with plunge pool) and admire the magnificent birdlife on the river’s banks. Look out over a popular elephant route, with your favourite cocktail and your loved one. Take a trip to nearby Victoria Falls and indulge in one of a long list of thrilling adventure activities.
