Mboma Boat Station

Water safaris for self-drivers in the Moremi Game Resereve

For those looking at combining Okavango Delta activities with self drive safaris of Botswana the Mboma Boat Station provides an excellent opportunity to get deep into the delta and explore it by motorboat and mokoro.

Situated on Mboma Island in the north west reaches of the Moremi Game Reserve on the permanent waters of the Okavango Delta the Mboma Boat Station provides an excellent way to see this delicate ecosystem. Catering for those making their own arrangements Mboma provides both mokoro excursions and motorboat trips.

Six fiberglass mokoros, each seating two passengers and poled by local professional guides, explore the surrounding waterways and are complemented by two motorboats allowing for trips further afield, including to the Godikwe Heronry, a seasonal breeding site for thousands of waterbirds.

Easily accessible, an hour from Third Bridge and three hours from South Gate, the boat station is signposted from both South Gate and Third Bridge.
