There is an increasing emphasis on family safaris to the Okavango Delta with the delta providing an ideal environment for children to learn about nature and conservation.

For those with young children, booking a safari to the delta can be frustrating with children excluded from activities such as walking safaris and mokoro excursions. The specialist family safari is a solution to this pairing excellent camps with dedicated guides.

These specialist safaris seek to get the most out of the delta for children with bespoke activities and a flexible approach to safari planning. Accommodation has been specifically pointed to allow both parents and children the space to safely explore this unique environment with up to three children accommodated in Desert & Delta Safaris newly built family units at Camp Okavango and Camp Moremi.

Guides have been specially selected for their child focused outlook with enthusiasm and flexibility key attributes. These guides are able to bring the delta to life ensuring a memorable safari experience.

Whilst most family safaris make use family rooms at existing camps, Ker & Downey Botswana’s innovative and highly regarded Young Explorers programme offers a bespoke family safari with sole use of their Footsteps Camp in the Shinde Concession.
