Karangoma is a small, exclusive safari camp created in partnership with local elder Olatotse Sarefo and rooted in Bukakhwe San and Hambukushu culture. Named after a Sembukushu word symbolising healing and ancestral connection, the camp offers guests a meaningful reconnection with nature and tradition. Set in a secluded part of the Okavango Delta, it features six luxurious tented suites and offers diverse activities such as game drives, walking safaris, mokoro excursions, and cultural experiences with the local community. Part of Wild Expeditions Africa, Karangoma emphasises conservation, cultural heritage, and immersive travel in one of Africa’s most untouched regions.

Karangoma is situated on the northeastern edge of the Okavango Delta, at the heart of the vast KAZA Transfrontier Park—a unique location, where Delta waters meet northern woodlands, offers a rich diversity of habitats, wildlife, and guest activities within a concentrated area.

Karangoma’s six spacious tents, including a family suite, are nestled on a shaded peninsula overlooking an Okavango floodplain and a frequented wildlife path. Each tent features a bedroom, lounge, and indoor/outdoor showers, all styled with modern Hambukushu-inspired design and oriented toward the views. The camp includes open lounge and dining areas, a fire pit, and a plunge pool. Tents sit on low wooden decks, while ground-level paths weave through the natural vegetation, keeping guests closely connected to the landscape.

Karangoma’s unique position between the Okavango Delta floodplains and northern woodlands allows for diverse activities, including day and night game drives, walking safaris, boating, and mokoro excursions. Guests can spot iconic wildlife like elephants, lions, red lechwe, and wetland birds. Additionally, visits to the nearby Bukakhwe San village of Gudigwa offer a rich cultural experience and insight into life alongside wildlife in rural Africa.
