This six-night Okavango safari combines two exceptional camps: Kanana Nyana in the western Okavango Delta and Kwara Camp in a private concession in the eastern Delta. Both camps are set within private concessions, allowing for greater flexibility of activities and a more exclusive safari experience. The itinerary showcases a wonderful range of habitats, from tranquil waterways and island-dotted landscapes to game-rich floodplains, with each camp complementing the other beautifully to create a well-balanced and varied Okavango safari.
Your safari begins at Kanana Nyana, a brand new camp operated by Ker & Downey Botswana and opening in October 2026, located within the scenic Pom Pom concession. This is a particularly picturesque area of the Delta, with a mosaic of channels, floodplains and palm islands creating a soft and timeless landscape. A full range of activities is available including game drives, mokoro excursions, boating, walking and night drives, offering a comprehensive and immersive experience. Kanana is especially well known for its exceptional birdlife, with access to one of the Delta’s largest heronries, and regular sightings of Pel’s fishing owl. The area also supports strong general game viewing, with leopard and elephant frequently encountered.
You will then continue east to Kwara Camp, operated by Kwando Safaris and set within a private concession renowned for its outstanding wildlife densities. This is undoubtedly one of the most productive predator areas in Botswana, with consistently high numbers of lion, leopard and wild dog, often allowing for frequent and close-up sightings. Large herds of elephant and plains game further enhance the experience. Thanks to its private concession, Kwara offers a full range of activities including game drives, off-roading, night drives and guided walks, creating a dynamic and exciting safari experience both during the day and after dark.
Both camps offer an intimate and high-quality safari experience, with excellent guiding and warm hospitality throughout. Together, Kanana Nyana and Kwara create a wonderfully complementary itinerary, combining the serenity and beauty of the Delta’s waterways with some of the very best big game viewing in the region.
This is a beautifully balanced Okavango Delta safari, showcasing both the quieter, scenic side of the Delta and the thrill of exceptional predator encounters.
Day 1 - Kanana Nyana
On arrival in Maun, Botswana, you will be met by a representative who will assist you with your onward light aircraft transfer into the Okavango Delta.
