Operating in a beautiful corner of the northern Okavango’s NG12 Concession, Uncharted Expeditions Camp (previously Okavango Mobile Expeditions) offers the ultimate privacy and flexibility, a private mobile safari ideal for friends and family looking to escape the crowds as the camp is booked on an exclusive use bases with a minimum of 2 people and 2 nights. Part of the Natural Selection portfolio of the famed Jack’s Camp, a stylish camp designed to capture the sense of adventure from a century ago, of the original 1920 safari pioneers – with classical furnishings and plenty of small comforts. Spacious walk-in Meru tents with proper beds, fine linens and en-suite open air bathrooms which feature bush loos and bucket showers with plenty of hot water. Thoughtful touches throughout add an extra luxurious element to your camping experience.

Meals are taken seriously, three sumptuous courses are served with bone-handle cutlery in the elegant mess tent and under the stars. A delicious tea spread is on offer during the afternoons. The central area includes a small library day-bed, books and games, so embrace the digital detox as there is no electricity, internet or cell phone signal, however camera batteries can be charged from the 12-volt car battery.

When fly camping, for those adventurous souls, you will sleep under the stars on a simple bedroll under a mozzie net. An optional but highly recommended experience.

Revel in an authentic Okavango mobile safari with Uncharted Expeditions Camp. Game viewing activities are based on an exciting blend of 4×4 drives, walking safaris, exceptional birding, boating in the deeper waters of the delta, and exploring the Delta channels by Mokoro, water level dependent. Fishing is offered between March and December, but not in January and February as this is the breeding season. An opportunity to stay in a remote lantern-lit fly camp overnight between July and September and to swim in a lagoon makes this an all-round safari adventure. Helicopter day trips to the ancient rock art sites hidden in the Tsodilo hills can be arranged or alternatively. These last activities come at an additional cost.

Expect a spectacular display of wildlife to be on show with Uncharted Expeditions Camp – the Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s leading big game safaris. Game vehicles operate with a maximum of 7 people and have rooftop seats, offering a giraffe’s eye view of the Okavango Delta. Wallowing hippo, herds of majestic elephant, lion, prowling leopard and other predators including hyaena and scavenging jackal, grazing antelope, basking crocodile – there is no limit to the game viewing possibilities. Listen to honking hippos a night, track the endangered African Wild Dog and watch the mighty mud-wallowing elephant.
