Deep in the Okavango Delta, on the edge of Chief’s Island, lies Oddballs Camp –a low-impact eco – lodge with views overlooking the magnificent Delta. One of the original Okavango Camps, Oddballs is a rustic camp with great character and is best suited to those looking for an adventurous Okavango experience. Oddballs Camp, located in a secluded position on Chief’s Island and only reachable by light aircraft, consists of elevated open-air tents on decks with scenic views of the Okavango Delta. Centrally located lounge and bar areas are perfect for social activities or to relax in comfortable chairs and sofas on the sunny deck as you take in the views and surrounding wildlife that may saunter past during the daytime.

Dome shaped tents, shaded by trees, provide comfortable bedding, a storage trunk and a light. Beautiful en – suite outdoor showers and ablutions are available. Two family suites are ideal for families or small parties of guests and delicious, wholesome meals are served in the dining room.

Activities are hosted by your own professionally trained guide (a maximum of two guests per guide). Dry season brings explorations on foot in the wilderness with your assigned born- and- bred- in- the- Delta guide sharing the Delta’s most intimate secrets. Rising water levels mean tranquil Mokoro excursions to a place under the stars where Africa offers you a natural sanctuary for rest during the night. It must be noted that the guided do not carry firearms which are not permitted in the Moremi Game Reserve.

Your guide will assess the water levels and weather daily and based on his conclusions, will organise suitable activities for you to enjoy for that day. Mokoros (dug-out canoes) are used to transport you to nearby islands where you will participate in bush walks in order to view bigger game and the spectacular surrounding landscape. Opt to connect with locals in their cultural villages in the area – their presence there dating as far back as the 1700s. The tranquil ambience at Oddballs Camp is further enhanced by a policy of no motorised activities.

Depending on water levels, mokoro trails into the further reaches of the delta are a major attraction at Oddballs camp. Make your way along narrow winding reed- lined channels into the Moremi Game Reserve, a natural area renowned for its myriad of bird and animal life. All equipment and provisions are packed into your mokoro as you set off with your guide for an unforgettable wilderness experience. Camping equipment is provided (tent, sleeping mat and pillow, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, food) however it is essential that bring your own sleeping bag. Please enquire at time of booking.

Importantly: Because the walking safaris are conducted in the Moremi Game Reserve, a national park, firearms are not permited and so your guide will not be armed. For this reason we do not recommend walking safaris at this camp- for those who wish to walk here will do so on the understanding this is against our advise. 

Delta camp accepts all ages, though we are only able to book the camp for families with children over 6 years.
