Moremi Crossing is a charming tented camp tucked along the fringes of the riverine forest in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. It features sixteen en suite tents, each raised on wooden decks with their own private veranda. The tents are modest in size and simply but comfortably furnished, offering a relaxed and intimate setting. Each includes a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom that leads to an outdoor shower. For couples, the honeymoon tent adds a touch of romance with an outdoor bathtub, while families are accommodated in a two-bedroom unit with a shared bathroom.
The heart of the camp is a crescent-shaped main building, a large open-plan deck that looks out over the Boro River toward Chief’s Island. This space is designed to feel expansive and airy, with a thatched roof sheltering the dining area, bar, and lounge. Smaller nooks have been carved out for privacy and comfort, and there’s a small curio shop for souvenirs and essentials.
Located on the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve, Moremi Crossing is primarily a water-based camp. Guests can explore the Delta’s tranquil channels by mokoro (dugout canoe) or motorboat when water levels allow. Mokoro excursions offer a peaceful way to absorb the scenery, while motorboats allow for longer journeys through the winding waterways. Bush walks are another highlight, conducted on nearby islands under the guidance of experienced trackers, these walks offer a chance to observe wildlife up close and notice the finer details often missed on game drives. Walks within the Moremi Game Reserve are a rare treat, though guides are limited to carrying bear bangers rather than firearms.
During periods of low water, when mokoro and boat activities aren’t possible, the camp offers 4×4 game drives with up to nine guests per vehicle. Cultural visits to nearby villages can also be arranged, offering insight into the traditions of the BaYei people.
Set within the Xaxaba Concession in the southern Okavango, Moremi Crossing is surrounded by classic Delta scenery—glistening waterways, open floodplains, and towering palm trees. The area is known for its rich wildlife and excellent birding. The camp operates with a strong eco-conscious ethos, using solar power and sustainable waste systems. Guests typically arrive via Moremi Crossing’s private airstrip, giving them a dramatic aerial view of the vast Okavango Delta as they descend into this peaceful corner of the wilderness.
