Botswana’s eVisa System is Back Online, streamlining travel ahead of peak safari season
After a temporary suspension in late April 2025, Botswana’s electronic visa (eVisa) application system is now fully operational again. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has restored the platform, allowing international travellers to apply for visas online without the need for in-person visits.
The eVisa system, initially launched in August 2021, streamlines the visa application process by enabling applicants to submit forms, upload supporting documents, and receive their visas electronically. This digital approach enhances efficiency and convenience for travellers seeking to visit Botswana for tourism, business, or other purposes.
During the recent downtime, applicants faced challenges in submitting new visa applications. With the system now back online, the Department assures that all functionalities have been restored, and applicants can proceed with their visa requests as usual.
Travellers planning to visit Botswana are encouraged to utilize the eVisa platform for a seamless application experience. For more information and to apply, visit the official eVisa portal at https://evisa.gov.bw.

With the eVisa system restored, Botswana is ready to welcome travellers from all over the world eager to explore its renowned wildlife, pristine landscapes and unique culture.
