Sandibe Under Canvas

Sandibe Under Canvas joined the &Beyond collection in March 2026 and was designed to capture the spirit of a traditional African safari camp. The camp accommodates a maximum of just six guests in three spacious canvas tents, either double or twin, ensuring an intimate and highly personalised experience. Each tent features solar-powered lighting, charging facilities, standing fans and an ensuite bathroom with double vanities and showers, hot running water, flushing toilets. Wi-Fi connectivity is available in tents, while insect-proof netting ensures comfort without detracting from the authentic canvas atmosphere. Note, there is no laundry service here, but laundry powder is provided in each tent. But there are luxurious touches like having your own high-quality pair of binoculars to use while you are at Sandibe Under Canvas!

Tents and the main area is connected via simple paths in the sand with the emphasis very much being on the surrounding wilderness rather than excessive luxury. Canvas walls allow guests to remain connected to the sounds of the bush, creating an experience that feels immersive yet comfortable.

The central guest area embraces the simplicity and charm of a traditional safari camp shaded by trees, with a camp fire and one tented area. Meals are enjoyed in a communal setting, creating opportunities to share stories with fellow guests after each activity. Evenings naturally revolve around the campfire, beneath Botswana’s remarkably clear night skies.

The atmosphere is relaxed, informal and highly personal, with attentive service reflecting the standards for which &Beyond is well known.

Sandibe Under Canvas is located within the private Sandibe section of the Chitabe Concession (NG31), immediately south of the Moremi Game Reserve. This region of the Okavango is renowned for its mixture of open floodplains, woodland and seasonal wetlands, creating ideal habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. The combination of different ecosystems supports impressive game densities throughout the year and contributes to the area’s reputation as one of Botswana’s premier safari destinations.

Guests typically arrive by light aircraft from Maun, a 15 minute direct flight, to the concession´s central airstrip before enjoying their first 1 hour´s game drive to camp, often beginning wildlife viewing before check-in.

Activities centre around exploring the concession both by vehicle and on foot. Morning and afternoon game drives showcase the area’s impressive wildlife diversity, while post-sundowner evening drives provide opportunities to encounter nocturnal species rarely seen during daylight hours. Guided walking safaris allow guests to appreciate the finer details of the ecosystem and experience the bush from a completely different perspective.

Scenic helicopter flights can also be arranged at an additional cost, offering spectacular aerial views of the Okavango’s floodplains and winding channels. The concession performs well throughout the year, with varying seasonal conditions bringing different wildlife concentrations and photographic opportunities.
