Tawana Camp

Tawana is an exciting new addition to the Natural Selection portfolio, seamlessly fitting in with its equally luxurious sister camps Tuludi, North Island and Jacks. Opened in May 2024, the camp offers a fresh and modern safari feel blending into the varied ecosystems of the Moremi Game Reserve. Tawana is a sophisticated celebration of this iconic region's rich wildlife and its historical significance in Botswana's conservation ethos.

Named after Chief Tawana Moremi, the paramount chief of the Batawana tribe, whose forebears were establishing the Moremi Game Reserve, Tawana is the new addition to Natural Selection’s premier camps.

A testament to Botswana’s recognition of the need to set aside much of ancestral hunting grounds to protect the wildlife, Moremi  is now recognised as an iconic game-viewing region, renowned for its untamed beauty and high concentration of antelope, predators and large herbivores. It is the oldest protected section of the Okavango Delta, a  proclaimed World Heritage Site. It lies on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta. Tawana’s unique location on the Gomoti River, surrounded by game-rich floodplains, makes the camp a hotspot for wildlife.

This region is renowned for its high concentration of wildlife, including healthy populations of  lion, leopard and African wild dogs – which are frequently sighted right from camp. Its position on Gomoti River ensures varied and plentiful game is present year-round.

The first summer rains arrive around November bring its own magic, transforming the Moremi into a lush green landscape. This is also the best time for birders, with the arrival of the summer migrants, ensuring Moremi is a twitcher’s delight.

Tawana Camp consisted of 8 suites, including 3 family rooms. Each suite stretches a generous 100 square metres in size, and a separate lounge area opening on to private outdoor terrace with a refreshing plunge pool. The camp’s design is inspired by the organic tones and textures of the landscape, as well as the cultural heritage of the local Batawana tribe, creating a stylish and sophisticated safari destination grounded in its sense of place.

The camp’s main area consists of an elegant and expansive lounge, beautiful indoor and outdoor dining spaces, a tastefully curated library section filled with works on the history of the Moremi Game Reserve and the local Batawana tribe. The a culinary exploration another highlight of the camp, Tawana also boasts a walk-in wine cellar and wood-fired pizza oven.

Spa and wellness treatments are available to guests in the privacy of their room, along with in-room weights and yoga mats. For the more energetic, stay in shape training in the 16-metre lap pool or the well-equipped gym.

Tuludi Camp offers wifi, a complimentary laundry service and accepts children aged six years and above.
