The company was born in 1991 in Phinda Game Reserve, South Africa and grown steadily since then maintaining a loyal following. The logo takes its inspiration of the bateleur eagle. ‘Bateleur’ means acrobat in French, named because of the movement the eagles make as they rock from side to side in eh sky, mimicking the balancing act of a tight-rope walker. It is this balancing act which captures the spirit of the company which aims to keep a healthy balance of caring for the land, wildlife and people.
&Beyond run a number of responsible tourism and conservation programmes including the Rhinos without Borders project which see the relocation of rhinos from heavily poached South Africa to Botswana. This is run in conjunction with Great Plains. Launched in 2014, by 2019 87 rhinos have been relocated.
