Sales Consultant

Okavango Delta Explorations is a specialist tour operator providing tailormade itineraries based on expert knowledge of this complex safari destination. While the Okavango is at the heart of everything we do, most itineraries will also include other destinations in the region.

On the cusp of launching a second brand covering all of ‘Safari Africa’ we are looking for an experienced sales consultant to join us in this next exciting chapter.

This is a varied and interesting role. You will primarily be focused on sales; managing new enquiries and existing bookings. However, we are a small team and you will also be expected to assist in most aspects of the business such as marketing and website updates.

This is a remote role, working to Botswana or UK office hours so candidates will ideally be based within those time zones. The ideal candidate will be able to visit Maun, Cape Town or London during the training period.

We offer a competitive salary, depending on experience, plus a good bonus scheme and personal travel fund.

What we are looking for:

Minimum 2 years sales experience in African travel, including Botswana, with a solid understanding of the sales process.

The ideal candidate will also have experience working with a UK Tour Operator, though this is not essential.

First hand experience of planning Okavango Delta safaris is essential. Experience of sales in the wider region is a considerable benefit/

Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.

Previous experience of delivering high levels of customer service.

Excellent attention to detail.

A genuine passion for African travel and safari (beyond the luxury!) and an ability to convey this enthusiasm and knowledge to clients on sales calls.

An interest in the region and industry, demonstrating up to date knowledge of developments.

Ability to work with urgency and accuracy.

Mathematically literate.

A creative mind to think outside the box when crafting safaris and in problem-solving.

Ability to think quickly on your feet and calmly resolve problems as they arise.

Can-do attitude and ability to work independently with discipline but always a team player.

Good organisation & time management skills

IT – should be confident with all basic Microsoft skills.
