Deep in the Khwai Private Reserve, Khwai Skybeds offers a thrilling and fun way of experiencing the African bush for a night under the stars. Three thoughtfully designed skybeds offer plenty of comfort, including a private bathroom below deck. Skybeds overlooks a busy waterhole which attracts wildlife from miles around. Memories of listening to the elephants drinking at night as you gaze at the stars from your bed will stay with you long after you leave.
Khwai Skybeds are a unique concept providing an excellent way to experience the African bush and the Okavango Delta from five meter high semi-thatched hides, allowing guests the opportunity to sleep under the stars with just a mosquito net separating them from the wild. With just three well-spaced ‘rooms’ Skybeds is an extremely intimate experience. The main area consists of a two story raised deck, with simple table and chairs where sundowners and meals are taken.
The hides at Khwai Skybeds are three-storey raised platforms, comfortably rustic they provide everything you need in the bush with fully enclosed bathrooms under each hide and private changing areas. Wholesome meals are cooked on the campfire and are served under the stars.
Situated within the 200 000 hectare Khwai Private Reserve these hides are just 70 metres from a waterhole. A nearby ground hide is a mere ten metres from the waterhole, which attracts a variety of game including elephant, buffalo, roan, kudu and giraffe, allowing unsurpassed sightings from your bed. Smaller nocturnal species include porcupines, bush babies, genets, jackals and honey badgers.
Activities at Khwai Skybeds include both morning and afternoon game drives which include sun-downers and game walks. Species frequently seen include lion, leopard, wild dog, kudu, waterbuck, red lechwe, eland, impala, roan, buffalo and warthog.
At Okavango Delta Explorations we specialise in crafting safaris to this unique ecosystem.
