Nkasa Rupara National Park

Unlike the deserts that define much of Namibia, Nkasa Rupara National Park is shaped entirely by water. Located in the Zambezi Region – formerly known as the Caprivi Strip – this remarkable wetland lies in the far north-east of the country, wedged between Botswana and Angola. Seasonal floodplains, winding channels and riverine woodland create Namibia’s largest formally protected wetland and one of its richest wildlife habitats. How to Visit Nkasa Rupara National Park

Nkasa Rupara National Park can be explored either as part of a self-drive journey through northern Namibia or from the comfort of a fully guided safari. The region’s generally good roads, light traffic and ever-changing scenery make it one of Namibia’s most rewarding self-drive destinations, with many travellers continuing east through the Zambezi Region before crossing into Botswana and finishing their journey at Victoria Falls.

The nearest town is Katima Mulilo, approximately 120 km from the park. Katima Mulilo Airport is served by scheduled flights from Windhoek, making it an excellent gateway for both self-drive and lodge-based safaris. For guests staying at Nkasa Linyanti and the park’s other safari lodges, comfortable road transfers can be arranged directly from the airport, while transfers are also available from Kasane in neighbouring Botswana.
